One reference photo, and your friend gets the shot

Pick a photo you'd like to recreate, and its pose shows up as an outline in the viewfinder. Your friend watches the screen while you listen to the phone's speaker. When you match the pose, it takes the picture.

An illustration. The released app may look different.
How it works

From screenshot to photo

  1. Pick a reference

A screenshot from your camera roll or a built-in template. paida reads the pose on the phone and turns it into a reference card.

  2. One watches, one listens

The photographer sees the outline, a match score and cues like "crouch a little". The subject only listens, one cue at a time.

  3. Match it, and it shoots

Hold the pose for half a second and the shutter fires once. Auto-shoot turns off anytime, and the manual shutter always works.

Each cue goes to the right person

Most posing apps give every cue to the person holding the phone, who ends up shouting them across. paida keeps framing cues on the screen and speaks pose cues straight to the subject.

On your own

Prop the phone up, switch to tripod mode and follow the big text and outline yourself. A countdown takes the shot, up to three in a row.

Privacy

Your photos stay on your phone

  • Nothing gets uploaded

Reference analysis and pose matching run on the phone. No account, no cloud.

  • Keypoints are thrown away

Body keypoints stay in memory and are discarded after use. They're never used to recognise anyone.

  • Four counts you can turn off

The app only counts session starts, reference use, auto-shoot triggers and purchase results, with a random install ID plus app version and device model. Counting starts after you agree, and turning it off in settings changes nothing else.

The details are in the privacy policy and terms of service.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a beauty or filter camera?
paida only deals with what happens before the shutter, like where to stand and how to pose. It doesn't generate photos or rate anyone. You get your phone camera's original file.
Does the subject need the app too?
No. The subject just listens to the speaker.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Open it and shoot. On a new phone, tap "Restore purchase" in the app store.
When is the iPhone version coming?
It's in progress and will need iOS 16 or later. Android beta builds are shared in the group.
